Little Black Skirts January 27, 2010

They say that a little black dress is a must in every girls closet. I have to agree with that. You’ll never know when you’ll need it and trust me when I say, you’ll never find that perfect Little Black Dress in the mall when you need it!

For me, the same thing goes for Little Black Skirts. I just can’t get enough of them. Different cuts, different designs, different lenghts, they’re all worth having.

These are my latest good buys of black skirts for the past few months. I think I’ll stop hoarding for now…

Black Skirt # 1 – from Zara (P1550)

There are certain clothes you see on the racks, instantly, your brain starts working on what to wear with it. This is how I felt when I saw this skirt. :) It may not suit everyone but I just love it!  Loose shirt + Boyfriend Blazer + skirt = CUTE!

Black Skirt # 2 – from Mango (P1450)

Mango Zippered Black Skirt

I just had to get it when my friend O told me how much of a good buy it is! Yes, that’s how easy it is to convince me when it comes to shopping. Geez!

Black Skirt # 3 – from Kamiseta (P899 plus 10% discount for Kamiseta cardholders)

With its price, need I say more? The cute zipper accent at the back added extra oomph to this skirt — I still can’t believe how cheap I got it for!

Black Skirt # 4 – from an online store (P650)

This skirt is cute, cute, cute! I love the cut, the cloth, and the length — perfect! Even if it’s a little loose on the waist, I love how comfortable and fab it feels when I’m wearing it. I can wear it with my top tucked or just left untucked for that relaxed feel. It even has side pockets without the extra bulge on the side!

Such a great buy huh?

Don’t you just love the thought of having a lot of black skirts just waiting to be picked up from your closet for your next night out with friends? :D

My Feathered Friends December 22, 2009

There are a lot of feather headpieces coming out. I personally think they’re cute (although some are too outrageous for me to pull-off) and adds that extra “oomph” to a simple outfit.

Here are some of the feather headpieces which caught my eye online (images from Etsy.com)

I just had to get a few pieces for myself :)   Check out what I got…

The feathers are detachable from the headband which makes it flexible in terms of where I want to position the feather — I think this is a smart feature :)

Here’s how they look on me :)

Tell me what you think :)

Is It Cold Out There? December 15, 2009

You might be wondering: “What the hell is she thinking? A leather jacket in a tropical country?!?”

I know it’s a little too hot to wear leather jackets in Manila but who cares! :p

I saw… I love… I got it! Check out the leather loot I got from Zara (Thanks to O for telling me about it!)

I just love it!  It’s not as thick as you think it is which makes it great!  It goes great with anything!  From shorts, to jeans, to skirts, to dresses!  Love it!

Hoarding didn’t stop there :)   I actually got this one earlier from Express.com.

I’m just waiting for the package to arrive! I’m soooo excited!

I think it’s cute that it comes with a removable faux fur collar! :)

Honestly, I still don’t know when and where I’ll wear it but I just want to be ready in case I’ll need it. ;)

Starbucks? Anyone? December 3, 2009

I consider myself a regular Starbucks customer. Not a week passes by without getting my starbucks fix.. “Tall Cafe Mocha, extra hot, non-fat, no whip please!”

On one of my regular morning visits to a nearby Starbucks, I saw this cute Christmas tree ornament. I just had to buy it! Why? Because it’s cute! :)

Even if it was a little pricey (P195) for it’s size I thought it would be a nice ornament to hang in our Christmas tree.

Oh! Did I mention that we don’t have a Christmas tree? :D — Now, to buy that tree where I can hang this ornament…

Exercise while shopping? Why not!?! November 30, 2009

I admit. I hate exercising. Just the mere thought of exercising already tires me out. I know that I have to exercise to stay healthy and fit, I just have a hard time getting myself to start. Yes. That bad. :(

So when I heard about Fitflop — and got to know about it’s benefits, I immediatly requested for one from my husband. Ofcourse, he didn’t give in until after a year! Perseverance is the key (aka KULIT!) :D

Finally! My own Fitflop which I got from Subic! I got the OASIS Style (Php 2,890) and I’m loving it!

They’re comfortable enough to wear for a whole day in the mall – plus I get the added benefit of a leg workout/toning while I’m shopping!

That’s hitting two birds with one stone! How great is that?

Based on their website, it is the Microwobbleboard™ technology that increases the time that your muscles are engaged every single time you take a step.

(*image from Fitflop.com)

And here are the claimed benefits of Fitflop…

FitFlop footwear is biomechanically engineered to help tone and tighten your leg muscles while you walk in them. Studies at the Centre for Human Performance at LSBU show that normal walking in FitFlop sandals can help:

- increase leg, calf and gluteal muscle activity,
- improve your posture,
- mimic the gait of barefoot walking but with more muscle load,
- improve muscle tone.

Not bad huh? If I can get toned and fit by just walking in the mall, it’s really worth a try. Let’s see if it actually works! :) If it does, I might just get another style (Electra) which I’m eyeing :)

Zara … We Love … November 26, 2009

We all have our favorite shops to visit whenever we’re in the mall. Sometimes, we end up spending hours rummaging through a single store’s stocks for great deals! Don’ deny it! I bet you can relate :)

My husband and I have a few favorite shops common in our list. It’s nice that we get to shop together :)

1. FULLY BOOKED  – We can spend the whole day inside Fully Booked! The wide range of books they have, the useless-but-you-end-up-buying items, the discounts they offer to discount card holders, the nice people at the customer service area (ok, not all), the ease of finding a book (just go to the customer service desk and they’ll get the book for you!) and reserving for a copy (just in case it’s out of stock) and a whole lot more! We’re totally hooked to Fully Booked!

2. TRUE VALUE/ACE HARDWARE/HANDYMAN – we both love going to hardware stores. My husband goes straight to home improvement items while I go straight to the dog section then window shop for knick-knacks and other useless items. :)

3. AND OF COURSE… ZARA*dreamy eyes*.  See what we purchased on Saturday morning — We were supposed to watch a movie but couldn’t resist the urge to “just look” inside Zara.  Result= empty pockets and big smiles on our faces.

1. My Super Duper Delayed Birthday Gift for my Husband

Don’t you always find it hard to find the perfect gift for your partner?

I do.  I always want to make sure that my gift will be the best gift he received for the year :)

So when he picked up this jacket, I immediately knew that it was going to be my long overdue birthday gift for him.

I love how it falls perfectly on his shoulder, the details on the waterproof zipper and the material it’s made of, PERFECT!

2. Padded Shoulders and Studs

My friend, C, introduced me to different types of Power Shoulders.  I’ve tried on a few but it never really suited me as well as it suited her.  So I had to settle.  Padded Shoulders for me (the term is so 80’s, haha!)

As I stepped inside Zara this jacket immediately caught my eye.  I just love how it looks, the fit, the details…  Lovely!

3. Studded Vest

Uh. Oh!  I think I’m developing a subtle addiction to studs!  As long as the studs aren’t so out there that I look like a rocker chick, I’m ok with it.  It’ll be easy to pull-off :)

Thank God November’s almost over since I think I’ve used up all my shopping budget for the month. Gotta slow down a bit…

Golden Gifts for Me! November 21, 2009

Pasalubong (pasal´ubong n. a present — usually given by one arriving from a trip)
– meaning picked up from Tagalog Dictionary

We’re always excited to receive pasalubong from family and friends who travel. Although we don’t really expect to receive something, it’s always nice to know that they thought of you while they were miles away.

Here are the Golden Gifts (because both of them were gold) I got from a very dear friend when she came home from her long US vacation:

1. Gold Knotted Multi-Chained Necklace (from Express.com)

Ooooh! I totally love this necklace! It can turn any simple outfit to total fab! It is made of shiny dark gold chain strands intertwined to create that knotted look. Definitely, a great addition to outfits!

2. Gold Headwrap with Gems (from Goody)

My friend and I are totally crazy over headbands and headwraps with nice embellishments.  When I say “crazy”, I mean hoarding crazy :)

art-deco crystal and silk headwrap by Jennifer Behr

No wonder why this headwrap made it to the bag. :)

The only downside is that it’s a little too tight but it’s manageable. My friend and I will have the garter band adjusted a bit.

Maybe someday, we’ll graduate from using Evita Peroni and Goody headwraps and move on to headwraps by Jennifer Behr:) *dreamy eyes*

As I’ve said in my previous post, it’s so nice to have fashionista friends. They love what you love :)

Thanks C for the great pasalubong!

My Birth Month November 17, 2009

I loooove the month of October … MY BIRTH MONTH! – which means, I get to celebrate my birth not just for a day but for the whole month! Beat that!

And what makes my birth month extra special?  It’s the well-thought-of gifts you receive from your loved ones and close friends.

As kids, we all wanted to receive a lot of gifts — I’m sure you can relate.  It’s all about quantity!  But as years go by, you realize that it’s not really the quantity. It’s how much effort your family and friends put in to give you what you need or even just what you want.

Let’s see what I got this year :)

1. Skull Candy Hesh (from my sweet Husband)

IMG_7343

I’m a sucker for cute things.  As long as it’s cute, SOLD!

That explains why I just had to have this Skull Candy Hesh in red with zebra stripes. I’ve begged my husband to give me these earphones for the longest time (I can’t even remember when I started asking for it) and I’m happy he finally gave in (same way he gave in to getting me my Yorkie)! What a great surprise!

They’re perfect for watching my TV series in my iPod.  Total silence from the external world! *Bliss*

2. Mango / MNG Patent Bag (from my dear dear Daddy)

IMG_7577

Don’t they always say that mommy knows best?  I think they’re wrong! For me, it’s both my Mom and my Dad who know best. They just know what I love and exactly what I want.

This year, my Dad got me a Black Patent bag from Mango! Isn’t it a beauty? I just love it!

Thanks Dad!

3. Topshop by Kate Moss top (from a very sweet close friend)

o's gift

This is a gift from a very dear friend.  I got it just in time to wear to an event!  Perfect!

Don’t you just love having fashionista friends?  Without asking, they simply know what to get you for your birthday!  She knows your style, your size and what you have in your closet to match it with!  Not much thinking left for you to do when you finally plan to wear it huh?

What did I wear it with?  My Mango Zippered Skirt and DESÙ Black Gladiator Heels

Again, thanks for making my birth-month extra special!

Fresh from Hong Kong … November 12, 2009

Picture this … my dear sister leaving for HK and me, giving my list of to-buys (and where to get them).

A few days after, I got an SMS that she’s back home and my items were ready for pick up.

Total happiness! All my bilins have turned into pasalubongs! Talk about being loved!

Check out what was in my list!

1. Cotton-On Shirts

IMG_7929

I’m such a hoarder.  I’m really guilty of that.  Once I like something, I just have to get them in all colors!  ;)

These Cotton-On shirts were no exception. They’re soft — doesn’t fade or lose its shape after multiple washing — and most of all, they’re inexpensive! Such a great buy for something so basic, yet perfect with anything!

Totally worth it!

2. Pen Holder

How it holds your pen

How it bookmarks the page

I keep a personal notebook inside my bag at all times for short notes and ideas.  I just told my niece to check a particular pen holder which I saw in HK during my last trip there but they got me something better –  a pen holder and a bookmark in one!

Cool huh?

3. Party Feet Toe Post Cushions

IMG_7938

I love wearing heels – the higher, the better, the sexier. ;)

Even if my shoes/heels are comfortable, I still want to protect the ball of my feet from callouses!  That’s why I’m an avid  fan of Scholl Party Feet. This is a basic necessity for me whenever I’m wearing my oh-so-high heels.  :)   They’re specifically made to protect the tender area between your toes caused by rubbing flip flops and provide invisible cushion for the balls of your feet for toe post shoes.  They’re washable and resuable!  What more can a shoe addict like me ask for?  Try it! You’ll love it!  I wonder if they’re available here in Manila?

Thanks to my dear sister for going thru all the trouble of completing the items in my list! Yehey!

Just A Walk In The Park November 6, 2009

I love dogs. They’ve always been a part of my life. To this day, running around my house are two of the most adorable dogs. One is an 8 year-old cross breed Shih-Tzu/Poodle (thus Shit-Poo :p) and another one is our 6 month-old baby, a Yorkshire Terrier.

Lexi and Chicklet

My husband and I always make it a point to have regular dog days with our ‘babies’. It’s like going to the mall with your kids — all basic necessities on hand — and allowing them run around as much as they can until they get tired.

Here’s a list of those necessities?

1. Drinking Water
2. Feeding Bowl – I used to use microwavable take out plastic containers
3. Treats – to keep them busy
4. A small amount of dog food – in case the day extends to their meal time
5. Lots and lots of old plastic bags – to pick up poop :p
6. Comb and extra hair ties

Just like kids, a day out with them won’t be complete if they don’t bring home anything. So what did Mommy end up buying? Lots and lots of useful stuff from Hobbes and Landes. Talk about spoiling your kids!

1. Don Don Foldable Bowl

These foldable bowls are lightweight and stores flat.  They can be used for both water and treats.

I found them so cute and useful that I ended up getting one for a dear friend as well :)

2. Bamboo Silicone Travel Bowl – 1 cup

when pushed open

These Silicone travel bowls are made of durable, non-porous materials. The special collapsible design folds down to less than 1/2”!  Ain’t that great!?! It fits perfectly in my jeans’ back pocket!

3. Bamboo Small Dog Slicker/Bristle Brush and Combs

bamboo brush

My husband and I were searching for the perfect brush for our Yorkie when we saw this brush-and-comb in one.  It offers four essential grooming items in one grooming tool.  How cool is that?  Both the flea and fine combs are slipped into the brush, ensuring that they are kept handy at all times.

It comes in different cute colors but decided to get it in green.

4. Bamboo Nail Clipper

bamboo nail clipper

Dogs need their nails trimmed regularly so instead of bringing them to the vet and pay a fee, I decided to just get them their own nail clipper (warning : read on how to trim your dog’s nails first before doing it yourself!).

This 3-in-1 pedicure set has stainless steel blades and cushioned, non-slip grip. Styptic dispenser with nail file conveniently stores in the handle.

It’s amazing how nail clippers for dogs have evolved from the really basic metal ones to this! I got it in pink!

5. Metallic Red Ribbon Clip

Metallic Red RibbonTied Hair

My husband would always say that I’m an example of a perfect customer.  I always end up buying items which are displayed by the counter of a bookstore, the grocery or a novelty shop.

That’s why my Yorkie ended up having this cute red ribbon by the end of the day.  Don’t you think she lookes lovely?

I know I’ve spent a lot this weekend… but who cares! I totally had a great time with my husband and our two kids :)
