Sooo Bright and Chic!

In preparation for my first day back in the office after 2 days of being stuck at home with sore eyes (Yes, I was a red-eyed vampire for 3 days!), I thought of repainting my nails…  Decisions… Decisions…  What color will I use for this week?  Yellow?  Blue?  Coral?  Green?  Pink?  Hmmm… Why not, NEON PINK! :)

A bright nail polish surely brightens up my day...

This color is one of my favorites.  Aside from the fact that it’s bright and happy, it glides on smoothly and easily!  Can you take a wild guess on what brand it is?  :)   It’s in the title of this blog :)   How much did I get it for?  PhP32.  Yehey!

A bright colored nail polish for a gloomy mood and weather (Manila is currently experiencing a typhoon named, Juaning — stay safe and dry everyone!)

Oh Happy Day…

Yahoo!  Today has been another happy day!  Aside from it being a Pay Day Friday, Fully Booked Gateway was ON SALE!  Woohooo!!!  20% off on all their books!  It was time for me to buy all the books I’ve been wanting to buy!

Heaven!!!

Check out what I got!  4 more books added to my collection!  Happiness!
(gist c/o Visual Bookshelf)

1. Life on the Refrigerator Door: Notes Between a Mother and Daughter, a novel by Alice Kuipers

Claire and her mother are running out of time, but they don’t know it. Not yet. Claire is wrapped up with the difficulties of her bourgeoning adulthood—boys, school, friends, identity; Claire’s mother, a single mom, is rushed off her feet both at work and at home. They rarely find themselves in the same room at the same time, and it often seems that the only thing they can count on are notes to each other on the refrigerator door. When home is threatened by a crisis, their relationship experiences a momentous change. Forced to reevaluate the delicate balance between their personal lives and their bond as mother and daughter, Claire and her mother find new love and devotion for one another deeper than anything they had ever imagined.

I’m sure I’ll be able to finish this book in 20 mins. as each page only contained notes between the mother and her daughter.  Maybe I should have just stayed in Fully Booked for 20 mins. and read it!  Haha!

2. Percy Jackson & the Olympians: Book 5: The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson and the Olympians) by Rick Riordan

The prophecy surrounding Percy’s 16th birthday will be revealed in this final book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series…

Finally!  In paperback!  I have been waiting for this to be available in paperback format and I’m happy that I got it on sale :)   That completes my collection :)   Yehey! — I heard this last book is really goooood!  :)

3. Love the One You’re With by Emily Griffin

How do you know if you’ve found the one? Can you really love the one you’re with when you can’t forget the one who got away?

Emily Giffin, author of the New York Times bestselling novels Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and Baby Proof, poses these questions—and many more—with her highly anticipated, thought-provoking new novel Love the One You’re With.

Ellen and Andy’s first year of marriage doesn’t just seem perfect, it is perfect. There is no question how deep their devotion is, and how naturally they bring out the best in each other. But one fateful afternoon, Ellen runs into Leo for the first time in eight years. Leo, the one who brought out the worst in her. Leo, the one who left her heartbroken with no explanation. Leo, the one she could never quite forget. When his reappearance ignites long-dormant emotions, Ellen begins to question whether the life she’s living is the one she’s meant to live. At once heartbreaking and funny, Love the One You’re With is a tale of lost loves and found fortunes—and will resonate with anyone who has ever wondered what if.

I’ve been wanting to buy/read this.  Now that I got it at 20% off, it will be a sweet cheap reading experience.  :)

4. Room: A Novel by Emma Donoghue

To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it’s where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.

Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it’s not enough…not for her or for him. She devises a bold escape plan, one that relies on her young son’s bravery and a lot of luck. What she does not realize is just how unprepared she is for the plan to actually work.

Told entirely in the language of the energetic, pragmatic five-year-old Jack, ROOM is a celebration of resilience and the limitless bond between parent and child, a brilliantly executed novel about what it means to journey from one world to another.

I grabbed this book while I was waiting for my turn to pay (nabentahan na naman ako!  Tsk!  Tsk!) but among the books which I bought today, I think I’ll be reading this first.  I’m really intrigued on how the story will unfold.  Reviews were quite good as well :)   I’m so excited!

Now, to clone my brains for me to read all of the books on my shelf at the same time…  Haha!

My Happy Purchase Last Weekend :)

I love hats!  I have to admit that I have spent quite a lot on hats since I was single.  Now that I’m married, I try my best to control my spendings on hats as I end up not using some of them — ssshhh…  my husband will say “I told you so!” :p

Ofcourse, it’s not bad to give in once in awhile, especially when you encounter great finds!  This is what I found last weekend in Subic!

A really good find for only P105. Not bad... not bad at all! :)

It’s perfect for our upcoming Boracay trip and as to how I convinced my husband to allow me to buy it???  A good enough justification (it will protect my scalp from the harmful rays of the sun and LOOK!  IT’S CHEAP and IT’S ON SALE!) plus my perfectly practiced i-need-it-badly look sealed the deal!  –  Thus, the go signal from my husband dear :)   Yehey!

I can already imagine wearing it AS IS or jazz it up with colorful scarves!  Yipee!

It was really a good buy!  Total happiness!

Loot #3 : Mango Supreme

It’s been awhile since I’ve been on the lookout for a black mini lace skirt.  The ones I usually see had colored lining underneath the black lace.  So when I saw this in mangoshop, I knew it was MINE!

I got two of these.  YES.  I AM SUCH A HOARDER.  I didn’t know what size I was so I got two different sizes just to be on the safe side as I don’t want to end up with a size which doesn’t fit me!  I might end up killing myself!

So now, I’m selling the other one (Size : Small).  Want it?  Just message me ;)

I also got this super duper cute sequined bag.  It comes with chain straps which I can keep inside if I want to use it as a clutch.

I totally love it :)  It’s sooo me *dreamy eyes* :)

Little Black Skirts

They say that a little black dress is a must in every girls closet. I have to agree with that. You’ll never know when you’ll need it and trust me when I say, you’ll never find that perfect Little Black Dress in the mall when you need it!

For me, the same thing goes for Little Black Skirts. I just can’t get enough of them. Different cuts, different designs, different lenghts, they’re all worth having.

These are my latest good buys of black skirts for the past few months. I think I’ll stop hoarding for now…

Black Skirt # 1 – from Zara (P1550)

There are certain clothes you see on the racks, instantly, your brain starts working on what to wear with it. This is how I felt when I saw this skirt. :) It may not suit everyone but I just love it!  Loose shirt + Boyfriend Blazer + skirt = CUTE!

Black Skirt # 2 – from Mango (P1450)

Mango Zippered Black Skirt

I just had to get it when my friend O told me how much of a good buy it is! Yes, that’s how easy it is to convince me when it comes to shopping. Geez!

Black Skirt # 3 – from Kamiseta (P899 plus 10% discount for Kamiseta cardholders)

With its price, need I say more? The cute zipper accent at the back added extra oomph to this skirt — I still can’t believe how cheap I got it for!

Black Skirt # 4 – from an online store (P650)

This skirt is cute, cute, cute! I love the cut, the cloth, and the length — perfect! Even if it’s a little loose on the waist, I love how comfortable and fab it feels when I’m wearing it. I can wear it with my top tucked or just left untucked for that relaxed feel. It even has side pockets without the extra bulge on the side!

Such a great buy huh?

Don’t you just love the thought of having a lot of black skirts just waiting to be picked up from your closet for your next night out with friends? :D

Exercise while shopping? Why not!?!

I admit. I hate exercising. Just the mere thought of exercising already tires me out. I know that I have to exercise to stay healthy and fit, I just have a hard time getting myself to start. Yes. That bad. :(

So when I heard about Fitflop — and got to know about it’s benefits, I immediatly requested for one from my husband. Ofcourse, he didn’t give in until after a year! Perseverance is the key (aka KULIT!) :D

Finally! My own Fitflop which I got from Subic! I got the OASIS Style (Php 2,890) and I’m loving it!

They’re comfortable enough to wear for a whole day in the mall – plus I get the added benefit of a leg workout/toning while I’m shopping!

That’s hitting two birds with one stone! How great is that?

Based on their website, it is the Microwobbleboard™ technology that increases the time that your muscles are engaged every single time you take a step.

And here are the claimed benefits of Fitflop…

FitFlop footwear is biomechanically engineered to help tone and tighten your leg muscles while you walk in them. Studies at the Centre for Human Performance at LSBU show that normal walking in FitFlop sandals can help:

- increase leg, calf and gluteal muscle activity,
- improve your posture,
- mimic the gait of barefoot walking but with more muscle load,
- improve muscle tone.

Not bad huh? If I can get toned and fit by just walking in the mall, it’s really worth a try. Let’s see if it actually works! :) If it does, I might just get another style (Electra) which I’m eyeing :)
