Yes, I admit, I’m a shopaholic (Duh! Thus this blog! Haha!) If you can categorize the level of someone being a shopaholic in terms of sickness, mine can be considered as stage 2 — not yet stage 4, terminal, like my friend, C. :p
I’ve always wanted to shop smart. Easier said than done. Whenever I see something nice, I can easily imagine myself wearing them, matching them with what I have, worse, matching it with something else I saw awhile back! So, I end up buying them then realizing… “Hey, I could have matched this with something I have in my closet!” Uh. Oh!
So when my team gave me this book, I was deeply touched. Maybe they think I should really start shopping smart (and not end up bankrupt!) and be reminded of all the clothes I have in my closet which I can revive — or remind me to check out my closet and unearth pieces which I haven’t even worn since the day I took them out of the shopping bag.
So what is it all about? According to the author, Nina Garcia, this book focuses on looking timelessly chic, all while saving money! Not bad huh? That statement seriously made me smile 🙂
It will also help fashionistas attain high-end looks at lower prices (super winner!) but will also learn how to maximize what they already have (paging C!).
It will also help readers honestly answer three key questions — What do I have? (I really have to empty out my closet and see what I have), What do I need? (Hmmm… hopefully Nina will be successful with me on this part!), What do I want? (A LOT!) — before making purchases, so they can effectively eliminate unnecessary spending (Now, she’s talking!)
So when I opened the book, look at what the page read:
LAYER IT ON THICK!
“If an item can be layered, you probably don’t need to spend a fortune on it. For instance, I wear most of my tank tops and T-shirts under another tank or a sweater, so I don’t need to get too fancy with these. Save your precious dollars for the outer wrapping”
It was sooo perfect for my upcoming trip. Thanks for reminding me, Nina!
Of course, my team didn’t forget to write a note for me inside the pages of the book. Sorry, I had to ‘delete’ parts of the message as it reveals some great “shopping secret”! Haha!
Thanks guys for a wonderful birthday gift! I totally love it and I can’t wait to read it! Love you guys! Mwah!
ps. I loooove the book illustrations! Super!
