012613 What I Wore : Hotel Living :)

I really love weekends! Who doesn’t!? Weekends mean, time with my husband as well as time with my family 🙂

This weekend, I have coined it as my “hotel living” weekend. Why? Just because our whole weekend will be spent inside hotels 🙂

First stop for today, lunch at Paseo Uno,  Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Makati City with my in laws ♥

I intentionally skipped breakfast so I can pig out during lunch! How piggy was that!?! Oink! Oink! And since I was so hungry, I wasn’t even able to take photos of what I ate, except for my yummy dessert.

After our hearty lunch, we hopped on to our next hotel, Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City, to check-in and spend a relaxing night in. 🙂

110912 What I Wore : HK Trip Day 2

Day 1 was spent eating and shopping in Hong Kong with my friend, Jack.  Day 2 was nothing different but still FUUUUN!  Of course, what else is there to do in Hong Kong but to eat and enjoy their yummy food and shop for great deals in all the stores you get to pass along the way (shopping is so convenient in HK, I’m glad I don’t live there as I’ll end up not saving even a single cent!  Haha!)

I never miss having at least one breakfast in McDonald’s Hong Kong! Yum!

We finished our 4-day itinerary (and 4-day trip budget) in 2 days!  Are we cool (or more of poor?) or what?!?!  Haha!

Here, There, Everywhere!

This is what I wore on Day 2.  I just had to include the human sized lego photos I took while we were at Times Square, Causeway Bay.  They are sooooo cute!  They were still setting it up when we were there and I’m sure they’ll be so much cooler once they’re done!  I can’t wait to see the whole set-up next month!

How I Spent My 2012 Birthday :)

Happy birthday to me!!!

This year, we really had nothing planned. My husband asked me if I wanted to go on a trip but the laziness in me opted to just stay in the Metro.

This is what I chose to do on my brithday — and it was all worth it!

First up, a yummy, yummy breakfast! Who could say NO to kesong puti, grilled ensaymada and hot chocolate from Mary Grace? Did I mention that the weather was perfect that we chose to stay outdoors? So heavenly!

Since we didn’t have any plans, we decided to grab coffee in Starbucks after breakfast and just laze around and people watch 😉

Then it was meant to be! I saw a girl carrying a Cotton On paper bag and decided to check out their newly opened branch! Luckily, October 6 was the soft opening of their Bonifacio Central branch and they gave away P500 coupons which you can use on that same day! I grabbed all the clothes I wanted to try on (the line to the fitting rooms was quite long as they only have 5 fitting rooms) and ended up with a dress and a top. Happiness!

With a minimum of P2000 purchase, you get a free Cotton On mug, button pin and cotton candy (I was happiest with the cotton candy, haha!)

Then at 2pm, we decided to meet up with my family to have our late lunch at Emperor’s Dimsum and Tea House (Greenhills)! Have you tried out this restaurant? Oh boy! You should! Their dimsums are oh-so-yummy! My personal favorite, shrimp rice cake and taosi spareribs! Yummmm!

Take A SLICE!

I’m sure those who frequent Bonifacio High Street are familiar with SLICE, what Slice is and what the big fuss is all about. 😉 I myself have heard so much about their yummy and healthy food, as well as their irresistable desserts!

So one early Saturday morning, my husband and I decided to try it out. Yehey! I love morning breakfast dates with my husband ❤ ❤ ❤ As early as 9am, we reached SLICE and we were their first clients for the day 🙂

What did we order?

I ordered a simple Americano, while my husband ordered the much talked about Pinoy Chocnut 🙂

I just looooove how their drinks were served on top of a wooden board with various nuts and raisins! Cute! 🙂

And to our surprise, the waitress served us with a bowl of caramelized barley with almonds and walnuts — all for FREE! It was oooh so yummy!

Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I love everything about the cafe. Everything looked so relaxing and being the first clients and only clients for the first hour of the day made it even more relaxing 🙂

Oh! You may ask why we didn’t order any food. Well, I really wanted to and I was hoping to use up my calorie allotment for the day (haha!) for their much-a-buzz Choco Yema cupcake. But to my disappointment, I think we were too early for them to have it in stock. 😦 Anyway, there’s always next time and we will definitely be back! 😉

Calamansi Filled Weekend

Last Friday night, with nothing else better to do, I decided to bake some Calamansi Muffins.  Why Calamansi Muffins, of all muffins?  Well, our tree has been so generous and it has been bearing so much of its fruit the past few weeks that we didn’t know what else we could do with them!  🙂

So TADAAAAA!  Presenting, my Calamansi Muffin! 🙂

Then with still so much calamansi left, I decided to bake again the following night (I think this is turning into an addiction!).  What was next after Calamansi Muffins?  It was Calamansi Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting!  Yummmm!

It was my first time to make buttercream frosting and I was soooo happy on how it turned out!  Topping it off with heart shaped sprinkles just made me smile 🙂

Now, my husband has muffins and cupcakes to finish!  He really has no choice but to do so 😉

Husband’s Verdict : He likes both of them as it just has a tinge of calamansi flavor.  Not sour at all!  But He likes the muffins more just because he doesn’t like buttercream frosting.  HAHAHA!

Healthy Living : Homemade Pizza

Since a lot of people asked me how I prepared the pizza I posted in my Instagram yesterday and since I’ve been eating ‘healthy’ for the past month, I thought of coming up with a few blog posts of the healthy food I’ve been eating.

So please bear with me as I share some of my recipes  (Note : I’m no cook neither am I an expert, so please proceed with caution, haha!). 🙂

Ingredients I used:

Chicken Mushrooms, Shimeji Mushrooms, Tomatoes, and Arugula

Grated Mozzarella Cheese (Yummm!)

Crackers (I used Finn Crisp Original Crispbreads)

Salt and Pepper (to taste)

Chili Flakes (I love spicy food! — this is optional)

Olive Oil

How to:

1. Heat a non-stick pan.  Spray pan with olive oil.

2. Put in Chicken and Shimeji Mushrooms. (I sauted these for a while as I want my mushrooms a bit toasted, haha!)

3. Put in the arugula, saute a bit then throw in the tomatoes (I removed the tomato seeds as I don’t want them to make my pizza ingredients soggy).

4. Add salt and pepper (to taste).  Sprinkle with chili flakes (optional).

Preparing the Pizza:

1. Line toaster tray with aluminum foil.  (I did this so that it won’t be hard for me to clean up after because of melted mozzarella and so that it won’t be hard to remove the crackers from the tray).

2. Pile up the crackers with the ingredients you prepared (mushrooms, tomatoes, arugula). — I used Finn crispbreads as they are ‘stiffer’ than using normal crackers.

3. Put grated mozzarella cheese on top.

4. Put them in the toaster and toast for around 10-14 minutes.

That’s it!  It’s an easy meal and it was really yummy (in my own opinion).  You may add ground beef, sausages, etc… I just didn’t feel like eating meat for lunch yesterday so I opted for an all veggie pizza 🙂  Try it, you might like it as well 🙂

Ps.  This recipe may be healthy for me but may not be healthy for you (due to some of the ingredients I used) so please make sure you check up on your health first before following this recipe. 🙂  Better be safe than sorry.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Create

Create. Last Saturday, with nothing else better to do at home, I decided to surprise my husband by baking some Choco Banana Muffins for him.

Since I’m on a strict Healthy Living diet, I am not allowed to taste anything outside of my diet plan. So, I “blindly” baked my muffins and hoped for a yummy turnout! Waiting for them to get baked was real torture for me. They really smelled and looked good!

My husband’s honest verdict : It was really good but he would prefer it with less chocolate chips next time. At least he was honest enough. 🙂

To my surprise, the muffins were moist inside and it was perfectly baked! Yes, perfectly! Happiness! I think I’ll make baking goodies a Saturday afternoon habit. 🙂
